Information is what you will find on the TuberculosisDrugResearch.org website. Even today, according to the CDC, ¼ of this planet’s population has TB, which is a terrible, deadly disease. Fortunately is treatable. TB is primarily spread through the air, when the person infected with it coughs, sneezes, spits or even laughs or sings.
I remember hearing that one of my uncles had TB, long before I was born. He recovered; however, his treatment evidently included being in a quarantined type of hospital or sanatorium for a lengthy period of time. It is probable that he had the disease in the 1940s.
And, I don’t know if schools still do this, but when I was a kid, we would all have to line up at the nurse’s office and get a little skin test – back then, we called it a Tine Test. Fortunately, I never knew anyone who tested positive for TB!
It is my personal hope that eventually TB will go the way of smallpox, and be completely eradicated.
